Michelin Guide Gala Málaga 2026: Quick Facts
Where to Stay
Late November is low season in Málaga, which means great hotel rates and no crowds. If you're timing your visit around the gala, staying central gives you easy access to the city's best restaurants.
The Centro Histórico puts you within walking distance of most of the old town's top dining spots. AC Hotel Málaga Palacio is a strong pick, its rooftop bar is a regular gathering spot for food industry visitors. Palacio Solecio, a restored 18th-century palace in the Jewish Quarter, has its own excellent restaurant and is one of the most elegant stays in the city.
Soho is close to the gala venue at SOHRLIN Andalucía and has a growing food scene of its own. H10 Croma Málaga is right in the heart of the neighbourhood.
La Malagueta is near the port and within walking distance of the venue. Gran Hotel Miramar is the most refined option in the area, perfect if you're making a proper foodie trip of it.

What is the Michelin Gala?
It's the annual ceremony where the new Michelin Guide for Spain and Andorra is revealed. Chefs from across the country wait nervously to hear if they've earned their first star, added a second, or joined the elite three-star club. Tears, hugs, and standing ovations are standard.
The event itself is invitation-only (unless you happen to be a chef or food industry insider), but the results ripple through the city immediately. Expect Málaga's top restaurants to be buzzing with celebration.
Why Málaga?
The 2025 gala marked the first time Málaga hosted this prestigious event, and it was a statement. The region has been on a culinary tear: restaurants like Bardal in Ronda and Skina in Marbella hold two stars each, and new one-star spots keep emerging across the Costa del Sol.
The gala takes place at SOHRLIN Andalucía, the theatre school founded by Antonio Banderas on the western seafront. It's a stunning venue that adds a touch of Hollywood glamour to the evening.
Málaga's food scene has exploded in recent years. What was once known mainly for fried fish and espetos now includes innovative tasting menus, world-class wine bars, and chefs pushing Andalusian cuisine in new directions. Hosting the Michelin gala back-to-back puts the city firmly on the international food map.
For Food Lovers Visiting Málaga
Even if you're not at the gala, time your visit around it and you'll feel the energy. The city buzzes with food industry events, pop-up dinners, and celebrations in the days surrounding the ceremony.
Book a table at one of the region's starred restaurants to celebrate with the locals. Or simply use the new guide to plan your own culinary tour of Andalucía.
Málaga province's Michelin-starred restaurants (as of 2026) include spots in Málaga city, Marbella, Ronda, and Fuengirola. The scene is growing fast.
Beyond starred dining, Málaga's everyday food scene is exceptional. The old town is packed with tapas bars serving everything from traditional Málaga dishes to modern small plates. For something more special, try a restaurant with a view overlooking the city or the Mediterranean.
Local tip
November is one of the best months to eat in Málaga. The summer crowds have gone, restaurant tables are easier to book, and seasonal ingredients like wild mushrooms, chestnuts, and new-season olive oil are at their peak. Many restaurants run special autumn menus.
Following the Results
The new star announcements are livestreamed on the Michelin Guide website and covered extensively on social media. Follow along in real time, then plan your next dinner reservation accordingly.
The results usually drop during the ceremony from around 7:00 PM onwards. Social media (especially X and Instagram) lights up with reactions from chefs and food journalists. It's a fun evening to follow even from your hotel room.
Visiting Málaga in November
Late November in Málaga is mild and pleasant, around 18-20°C during the day with plenty of sunshine. It's one of the quietest months for tourism, which means shorter queues at museums, easier restaurant reservations, and lower hotel prices.
