Marbella sunsets are some of the best on the Costa del Sol. The coast faces south and west, which means the sun drops low over the Mediterranean most evenings, turning the sky orange, pink, and purple.
These are nine spots that never disappoint, from quiet beaches to rooftop bars and a mountain hike with views all the way to Africa.
Where Is the Best Place to Watch the Sunset in Marbella?
The best place to view the sunset in Marbella is Belvue Rooftop Bar. The 180-degree ocean views from the 9th floor are unmatched, and you can order sundowners while the sun drops below the horizon.
Playa Venus comes a close second, and for the same reason. Sun loungers and cocktails are right there, so you can relax the last of the day away without moving. For drama, hike La Concha.
Here are all nine in detail.
1. Belvue Rooftop Bar

For elevated sunset views, head to Belvue on the 9th floor of the Amare Beach Hotel, an adults-only property right on the seafront. The panoramic terrace looks out over the Mediterranean with uninterrupted views of the horizon.
At 15 euros per cocktail you’re paying for the views and the location, but that’s Marbella. The bar operates seasonally during summer months, so check opening times if visiting outside peak season.
Arrive more than an hour before sunset to secure the best seats.
2. Playa Venus

Venus Beach sits closest to Marbella Old Town and offers the most accessible sunset views if you’re staying in the centre. The wide stretch of sand means you can find a quiet spot even in summer.
What makes it special is the combination of the Mediterranean in front and the silhouette of La Concha mountain behind you, catching the last light. Bring a blanket, grab some takeaway from the Old Town, and settle in.
The chiringuitos (beach bars) along this stretch serve drinks you can take onto the sand.
3. Puerto Banús Marina at Sunset

Luxury yachts, calm water, and the sun dropping behind the harbour entrance. Puerto Banus is the sunset spot most people come for, and it lives up to it.
Walk along the waterfront promenade as the sky changes colour. The reflections on the water and silhouettes of boats make it the most photogenic sunset location in Marbella.
The western end of the marina near the lighthouse offers the most unobstructed views. Astral Coctelería and Banús Beach Bar are both right on the sand, so you can sit with a drink in your hand and your toes in the sand while the sun goes down.
4. Cabopino Beach and Dunes

About 12 kilometres east of Marbella centre, Cabopino offers something different. Wooden walkways wind through the Artola Dunes, crossing past a nearly 500-year-old watchtower that once protected the coast with two cannons. Now it looks over you as you find a quiet stretch of sand.
I did the reverse on my last trip and came here at sunrise, but the effect is the same. The dunes feel removed from the glamour of Puerto Banus, and there’s space to spread out.
Andy’s Beach Bar sits a few hundred metres from the dunes and is the opposite vibe. Loungers, a bar, even a massage spot.
Get here at least two hours before sunset in summer because an inland caravan park brings crowds during peak season, and parking fills up fast if you arrive late.
5. Sunset Catamaran from Puerto Banús
If you’d rather watch the sunset from the water, the Marbella Paseo Catamaran sails out of Puerto Banús in the early evening. You get the coastline in one direction and open sea in the other as the sky changes colour around you.
It’s a different perspective from any land-based spot. No crowds, no fighting for a bench, and the light hits differently when there’s nothing between you and the horizon.
6. Marbella Club Pier

This wooden pier extending into the sea near the Marbella Club Hotel has become one of the most photographed spots on the Costa del Sol.
The pier is free to access and sits next to Lobito de Mar, one of Chef Dani García’s seafood restaurants. Even if you’re not dining, you can walk out for sunset photos.
It faces west, so you get the sun dropping directly in front of you.
Fair warning on driving here. I followed my GPS and discovered that the streets adjacent to the pier are all residential only. Park at one of the public beaches a few hundred metres to either side and walk towards the pier.
7. La Concha Mountain

For the most dramatic sunset views, nothing beats hiking La Concha. At 1,215 metres, you’ll watch the sun set over Marbella, the coastline stretching toward Gibraltar, and on clear days the mountains of Morocco across the strait.
This isn’t a casual sunset stroll. The hike takes 2 to 3 hours each way and is rated medium to difficult.
Start in late afternoon and bring a headlamp for the descent. I haven’t done the sunset hike yet, but friends who have say watching the sky turn pink over two countries at once made the sore legs worth it.
8. Paseo Marítimo (Seafront Promenade)

Marbella’s seafront promenade runs about 7 kilometres along the coast, and it’s one of the best walks you can do in Marbella on foot. The beach on one side and La Concha mountain catching the alpenglow on the other make this the lowest-effort sunset option on the list.
I like the stretch near Pirlo beach bar best. The views are wide open and there’s always a bench free. Stop at any of the chiringuitos along the way for a cold drink, or just keep walking and let the light change around you.
9. Nikki Beach Marbella

If you want to combine your sunset with a beach club, the Golden Mile between Marbella and Puerto Banus has several options. Nikki Beach is the most well-known, with sun loungers, a pool, and a restaurant all facing the sea.
La Sala by the Sea is more relaxed and better for a casual drink, while Ocean Club leans into the party atmosphere. All three have minimum spends and fill up fast at sunset, so book ahead in summer.

|---|---|
| January | 6:15 PM |

| March | 7:15 PM |

The longest days in late June see the sun setting close to 9:45 PM, giving you plenty of time for a leisurely dinner beforehand. If you’re planning your trip around the light, my best time to visit Marbella guide covers weather, crowds, and pricing by month.
Arrive 30 to 45 minutes before sunset for the best positions, especially at rooftop bars and popular beaches.
