June is warm enough for the beach, not yet at peak heat, and long sunny days that stretch past 9pm.
If you're on the fence about booking that Malaga trip in June because of the weather, let's skip to the end, do it!
25 degrees on average is hot without being too hot, there's barely a drop of rain, and the ocean is near-perfect for swimming.

The UV index might be at its peak at between 8-10, but that's what sunscreen and hats are for.
So, if you've made it this far, then here's everything you can expect from the weather, the beaches and even some of my favourite events!
For a review of every month take a look at my best time to visit Malaga guide.
What to Expect from the Weather in June
Daytime temperatures typically reach 27-30°C (80-86°F), which feels pleasantly warm rather than overwhelming.
You can comfortably walk the city, explore the Alcazaba, and wander the old town without wilting. The heat builds through the afternoon but rarely becomes oppressive like July and August can be.
Evenings cool to a comfortable 18-19°C (64-66°F), perfect for outdoor dining without needing a jacket.
Rain is rare, with most of the month seeing clear blue skies. When showers do occur, they're typically brief and pass quickly.
The Mediterranean reaches 21-22°C (70-72°F) by June, which feels refreshing rather than cold. The first few seconds might make you catch your breath, but you adjust quickly.
The UV index in June typically sits at 8-10, which means unprotected skin can burn in 15-20 minutes.
Okay and that's the weather, now for reasons June is a great time to visit!
What's On in June

You can skip ahead to my calendar where I try to keep track of everything free happening Malaga if you prefer!
No matter the month, there are always a few staples that are always worth catching if you;re in the city.
Most museums are free on Sundays, as are the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba. P.S. The Roman Theatre is ALWAYS free.
La Merced market is the first Sunday of each month, and the Botanical Gardens are free on Sundays too.
But the real draw is the Noche de San Juan, a night of fireworks and bonfires.
I highly recommend staying at the AC Hotel Malaga Palacio if you want the best views of the fireworks. It has the tallest rooftop with the best views of the port, plus a plunge pool!
What are the best things to do in June?

Aside from packed events calendar, a month of sun, blue skies and not-too-hot days means you can take your pick.
When you're not trying to get to all of the activities on my calendar, I suggest making the beach a priority!
You'll find all of the best beaches here, but if you're brave, venture a little further out and try Crows Rock. You can cycle, bus, or even walk to it if you're fit, and you won't regret it!
Once you've mastered the beaches, try some amazing tapas in Malaga Old Town, and maybe a museum to escape the heat for a while.
Afternoons are best for exploring the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro with the sun setting over the ocean, or enjoying a cocktail on one of Malaga's 30 rooftop bars.

What Time Does the Sun Set in June?

The sun sets between 9:30pm and 9:45pm throughout June, with the latest sunsets around the summer solstice (June 21st).
This means incredibly long evenings. We usually draw the curtains at around 8, or we never get to bed on time.
You can literally have dinner at 9pm in full daylight, and the sky doesn't fully darken until after 10:30pm.
