Málaga's Roman Theatre is completely free to visit. The 1st-century BC amphitheatre sits at the foot of the Alcazaba and is one of the city's most recognisable historic sites.
Opening hours
- Tuesday to Saturday: 10:00 to 18:00
- Sunday and public holidays: 10:00 to 16:00
- Monday: Closed
What to expect
The site includes the theatre ruins and a small interpretation centre. You can walk among the stone seating and stage area. Allow about 20-30 minutes.
Early morning or late afternoon visits are quieter, especially on weekends. The afternoon light across the stone is particularly good for photos.
Getting there
The theatre is on Calle Alcazabilla, directly below the Alcazaba. It's a short walk from Plaza de la Merced or the Cathedral.
