Three Kings Parade in Málaga – Magic in the Streets on 5 January

Malaga's Three Kings Parade (Cabalgata de Reyes) takes place on 5 January starting at 18:00. It marks the end of the Christmas season in Spain, with elaborate floats, live music, and sweets thrown to the crowd.

The parade

Around 14 floats carry Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthasar through the city centre. Dancers, drummers, and performers accompany them. An estimated four million sweets are thrown into the crowd. Gluten-free sweets are wrapped in blue.

The route runs from City Hall along Alameda Principal to Plaza de la Constitucion.

Viewing options

Standing anywhere along the route is free. Paid seating (around 8 to 15 euros) is available along Alameda Principal and Plaza de la Marina. Tickets go on sale in late December and sell out quickly.

Traditions

On 6 January, families eat roscon de Reyes (a ring-shaped cake) for breakfast. The cake hides a small figurine and a bean. Whoever finds the bean pays for the cake.
